We take a more simplified approach—usually that means locking a few people in a room with some fish tacos and flavored fizzy water and not letting them out until they’ve cracked it. For us, there are no small asks and no small engagements. Every deliverable has our name on it—and the name of at least one person who’s counting on us—and that means no tasks are taken lightly. Our backgrounds before Big Day include years working on some of the world’s most revered brands at some of the biggest agencies around. But regardless of the size or stature of a company, we know that the best work comes from the best relationships—both within the agency and with clients. And those can only develop when there’s a commitment to transparency, collaboration and not hiring jerks.
Before co-founding Big Day, Ahab ran Gut Branding in San Diego where he did everything from product and packaging design to full 360 campaign work for fast-growing regional companies and agencies like BBDO and Phenomenon. Prior to that, he worked at Vitro, Waylon and in-house at Bass Pro Shops. Always looking to make “beautiful things that work”, his career has seen him create campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands, including Budweiser, Ford, Pepsi, Disney, NFL and Shell. In his spare time, you can find Ahab bodyboarding or grilling. He’s yet to figure out how to combine the two. Give him time though.
Before co-founding Big Day, Kristie was the managing director at Mirum/Wunderman Thompson San Diego. There she led several key relationships, including Qualcomm, Royal Caribbean and Taylor Guitars. Prior to that she worked at Critical Mass in Los Angeles and Austin on USAA, AT&T and Dell. With a background in sports marketing, traditional advertising and e-commerce, KB is looking forward to bringing it all together for Big Day’s clients. She’s also looking forward to figuring out how to prevent our Chief Barketing Officer (aka her dog Ellie) from joining all our calls.
Before co-founding Big Day, Peter was the executive creative director at Mirum/Wunderman Thompson in San Diego. While there, he led U.S. creative for Shell retail, ran Royal Caribbean’s B2B account and oversaw global digital creative for Rolex. He got his start as a copywriter working at MacLaren McCann, Proximity Worldwide and SapientNitro on clients including Sony, Doritos, FedEx and GM. Before all that, Peter wrote television shows, but made the move to advertising because he wanted fewer egos, less politics and better snacks. One out of three ain’t bad.
